Renting and buying time

This morning, I rode my bike to work and accidentally took the keys to the car that Monica and I share. After considering options, I decided to hire a direct Uber and, instead of riding as a passenger, I handed my keys to the driver and he drove them to their home.

I rented the uber and driver.

I bought the time it saved me.

One hour later, having said she would bring me a lunch, Monica left the house and crossed town. When she arrived, she realized that she had forgotten the lunch at home. After considering options, she hired a food delivery service to bring a lunch to my office as she continued with her sister and kids to the Exploratorium.

She rented the service.

She bought us both time.
