Learn from the impulse

When a chiropractor gives an impulse, she takes a joint to a place that it could not have traveled alone.

As the impulse is given, the doc senses the release of stored potential energy, notices the quality of the end-feel and with subtle perception can even feel the landscape of tension that still exists just beyond where this impulse reached.

Moving toward mastery in the art of chiropractic involves noticing the subtle opportunities for further exploration and connection that exist just beyond the range to which your force travels when giving an impulse.

Perceiving these sensations while giving an adjustment is like diving into an underwater cave and having a look around. You only get to see what your light shines on and you only get to stay for the length of a breath.

Whether on a first dive into a new cave or performing a first adjustment with a new person, you may notice something that you want to explore more deeply in a subsequent visit to the space.

In both cases, the learning from the first trip informs the second, and each thereafter.

But only if you shine your light, notice what you notice, and learn from the impulse.
