Your body is a machine, kinda.

Muscles are motors. Tendons are ropes. Bones are levers. Joint capsules are feedback receptors.

Pull here. That moves there.

But not really.

The brain is a computer. The nerves are wires. The skull and spinal cord are conduits.

Information goes up. Algorithmic processing occurs. Results are determined. Decisions are made. Signals for action are sent down.

But not literally.

Our understanding of the body will always be understood using metaphors that match the most sophisticated technology of the day. We get a little closer with every invention and upgrade, but the pursuit is asymptotic.

It will never be completely accurate because our bodies are not machines.

Or…

Our bodies are a minuscule component within the machine that is everything.

We’ll see.
