Heart beats and snake rattles

A sound that is similar to a heart beat, like a bass drum or other music, will trigger neurology that was formed in the womb as you listened to your mother’s heartbeat.

A sound that imitates a snake rattle (or a twig snapping), like a fire cracker, will set off neurology that was passed down through generations by ancestors who learned from the death of others that things that rattle (or snap twigs under the weight of their step) are worth being afraid of.

These are gifts when they are accurate.

They handcuff us when they are not.

Having an open minded skepticism is a healthy practice for investigating our modern day rattlers.

Sometimes you’ll even realize that the rattle is in your own hand.
