The adjustment is the adaptation

The chiropractor gives an impulse.

The impulse is a force that is delivered into a person’s body.

The body receives the force.

The brain combines the input with all the other stimuli of the moment, determines the meaning of this experience, and uses the force to adapt the internal environment toward homeostasis.

The chiropractor’s impulse is a directed force.

The brain-body determines the adjustment (aka adaptation).
